EAGLES' CONFERENCE RECORD REMAINS CLEAN

Brandi Surkamer scored 19 points to lead Roanoke Valley Christian to its eighth straight Blue Ridge Conference victory as the Eagles beat visiting Roanoke Catholic 48-40 in girls' basketball Saturday.

After starting flat, Roanoke Valley Christian (10-4) picked up the pace in the second half as Surkamer and Danae Wegner each scored eight points in the third quarter.

RVC also made 9-of-14 free throws in fourth quarter to hold off the Celtics (9-2, 6-2).
