CHIEF WARDEN NAMED
Joseph Lynch, a wildlife law enforcement officer with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation for 25 years, has been named Virginia's top game warden.Lynch, 49, will become chief of the law enforcement division of the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries on March 1, according to Bud Bristow, director of the department. He replaces Gerald Simmons, who retired last October.
Since 1982, Lynch has served as an assistant director of the New York department's law enforcement division, with a rank of colonel. He has supervised 260 conservation officers.
Lynch was chosen following a nationwide search that included three applicants from the ranks of Virginia's game warden force.
