TAKE THE PLEDGE TO BALANCE BUDGET
IT IS COMMENDABLE that some members of Congress are returning portions of their salaries to the Treasury or else aiding worthy causes. I feel that there should be no further raises for the Congress until they have legislated balanced budgets and held to them. Our nation must recognize its limits.I urge those who agree to insist that members of, or candidates for, Congress pledge not to vote for raises for themselves until balanced budgets are achieved. A listing of those who take the pledge should be kept and published, with periodic updates. Voters should let these people know they will be held to their pledge. JAMES R. THORPE PEARISBURG
