GREER, GILBERT A.Gilbert A. (Pappy) Greer, age 61, of Route 2, Hardy died Monday morning in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was employed by Pike's Generator Service. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Mae Greer; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Roy and Rita Greer, Roger and Sandra Greer, Tony and Peggy Greer, Michael Greer; two daughters, Shelby Greer and Mary Greer, all of Hardy; six stepchildren and spouses, David and Barbara Moore, Roanoke; Virginia and Steve Daub, Greensboro, N.C.; Shirley Shumate, Willis; Kathey Layne, Rocky Mount; Virginia and David Campbell, Hardy; Clifford Watkins, Roanoke; two granddaughters, Michelle and Amber Greer; twelve stepgrandchildren; brothers, George Junior Greer, Lewis Edward Greer; a sister, Kathleen G. Truman; father-in-law, Howard R. Reese, all of Hardy. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 1992 with the Rev. William E. Robertson Jr. and the Rev. Jimmy Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
