`VIRGINIA REDSKINS' HONORED BY SENATE
The Virginia state Senate honored the Super Bowl champion Redskins - not the Washington Redskins, but the "Virginia Redskins."Sen. Warren E. Barry, R-Fairfax, who sponsored the resolution, said Redskins' owner Jack Kent Cooke, coach Joe Gibbs and 46 of the 55 players live in Virginia. The team's headquarters is at Redskins Park in Herndon, he said.
"They don't spend more than nine days a year in Washington," Barry said, referring to the days when the Redskins play their home games at RFK Stadium in Washington. "The plain fact of the matter is they're the Virginia Redskins."
