MONTGOMERY INDICTS 3 IN CRACK COCAINE SALES
Three Christiansburg residents have been indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on charges of distributing crack cocaine.The direct indictments were issued Wednesday but not released until Monday. Indicted were:
William Bernice Smith, 69, one count of distributing cocaine on or about Dec. 2. Smith was arrested Friday and has posted a $1,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on Feb. 5.
Marshall "Poochie" Williamson on four counts of distributing cocaine in October and November. He was arrested on Thursday and was released Friday on $10,000 bond, Montgomery County Investigator R.L. Hodge said. Williamson also has a Feb. 5 court date.
Josephine Price Smith, on two counts of distributing cocaine in late November or early December. Hodge said she is the wife of William Smith. Josephine Smith has not been arrested because she has been in the hospital, Hodge said.
The three, all residents of Nugget Ridge Apartments off Radford Street, are accused of selling small amounts of crack cocaine to an undercover officer, Hodge said. The arrests were the result of a joint investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, state police and the Blacksburg and Christiansburg police departments.
