EX-TECH PROFESSOR, MUSIC DIRECTOR FOR PAGEANT DIES

Paul Alan Breske, a past musical director of the Miss Virginia Pageant and retired music professor of Virginia Tech, died at his home Sunday.

In 1969, Breske came to Blacksburg and became the accompanist and arranger for the Virginia Tech Men's Glee Club. He was an assistant professor of music until his retirement in 1990.

Breske was musical director of the Miss Virginia Pageant and also helped arrange music for several Miss Virginia contestants from 1977-89.

In February 1991, Breske performed at a concert with his wife, Catherine, at Virginia Tech. The concert drew tears from the crowd as various popular songs were sung.

Breske is survived by his wife; his mother, Ann Marie Breske, of Racine, Wis.; and sons Adam, Daniel, David and Michael Breske, all of Blacksburg.
