HOW COULD STATE GOVERNMENT BE RUN MORE EFFICIENTLY?
The 1992-94 biennium is shaping up as another tight budgeting period for Virginia. After millions in spending cutbacks during the current biennium, some people say there's no more room for significant cuts, so taxes must be raised. This newspaper editoriallly has called for state tax increases totaling more than $1.2 billion over the next biennium.What do you think? Is there waste in state government; if so, where? Should some state programs be ended; if so, which ones? Or could the state get more bang for its buck, providing the same or more services for less money; if so, how?
