OBIT OAKEY, P.
OAKEY, PAUL D.Paul D. Oakey, age 96, of 1009 Old Country Club Rd., N.W., died Monday evening. He was a retired funeral director having owned and operated the Paul D. Oakey Funeral Home in Blacksburg for a number of years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Salem, attended Va Tech, served as a Lieutenant during World War I and was a life time member of Hunters Masonic Lodge in Blacksburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Morrison Oakey; his son, Paul D. Oakey, Jr. and his daughter, Leslie O. Ware. He was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Brian O'Connor. Surviving are five grandchildren and spouses, David Oakey, Tempe, Ariz.; Martha O'Connor and Kevin, Chapel Hill, N.C.; Carol Richards and Gary, La Canada, Calif.; Joseph Ware, III, and Delaree, Palmdale, Calif.; Tom Ware, Camarillo, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Katie O'Connor, Lisa Richards, Michael Richards, Joseph Ware, IV, John Ware; daughter-in-law, Nancy P. Oakey, Blacksburg; son-in-law, Joseph Ware, II, Camarillo, Calif. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 1:30 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Thomas L. Joyce. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
