BUFFALOES POUND BLUE DEVILS 75-59

Floyd County stampeded past Grayson County 75-59 in a Mountain Empire District boys' basketball game on Tuesday night.

Floyd County was down 37-31 heading into the third quarter, but the Buffaloes went on a 13-0 run to go ahead 44-39.

The Blue Devils (10-4 overall, 9-2 in the district) tied it at 46 with 1:54 left in the third, but Floyd County (12-1, 10-1) then scored six points to go up 52-46. The Buffaloes extended their lead to 10 points in the fourth.

Travis Crawford led Floyd County with 23 points and Fred Via had 17.

Devin Floyd had 17 to lead Grayson County. \

PEARISBURG - Brian Sale scored 26 points in three quarters to help lead the visiting Eagles (6-5, 5-4) over the Spartans (1-10, 1-10) in the Mountain Empire District game.

Sale made 12 of 18 free throws. \

BLAND - McCreery Manns scored nine of his 21 points in the second quarter in leading the Green Wave over the host Rockets in a Mountain Empire District game.

Leading by four points after the first quarter, Narrows outscored Bland 21-11 in the second and led the rest of the game. \

Rocky Gap 43

Shawsville 30

ROCKY GAP - The Eagles held the visiting Shawnees to two points in the fourth quarter and pulled away for a Mountain Empire District win.

Kyle Gibson scored 11 points to lead Rocky Gap (6-6, 5-6).

Shawsville (1-11, 0-11) was led by Kenny Dow's 12 points. \

Amherst County 42

MONETA - Staunton River's Eric Flood scored 10 of his 12 points in the third quarter as the Golden Eagles (8-5, 8-5) defeated the visiting Lancers (7-5, 7-5) in a Seminole District game.

Mike Moon had 15 points and Troy Smith had 10 for Staunton River. \

Jefferson Forest 66

Rustburg 52

FOREST - A 21-7 third-quarter run carried the Cavaliers (8-5, 8-5) past Rustburg in a Seminole District game.

Ryan Gilleland scored 18 points and Bryan Jennings 16 to lead Jefferson Forest.

Mike Cowart had 12, Chip Elliott 11 and Rodney Davidson 11 for Rustburg (5-8, 5-8). \

Liberty 71

Buckingham 62

BEDFORD - After losing a 10-point first-half lead, the Minutemen regained their composure in the third quarter and went on to a Seminole District victory over the Knights.

Patrick Patterson paced Liberty (5-9, 5-9) with 16 points, and he and Matt Hogan hit key 3-pointers that started a key third-quarter run.

Cory Anderson, Scott Martin, Bruce Jacobs and Chris Dean had 11 points each for Liberty.

Ron Swann paced Buckingham (7-6, 7-6) with 17 points. \

Graham 53

Radford 49

BLUEFIELD - The G-Men took an eight-point first-quarter lead and held off the Bobcats for a non-district victory.

Jay Gray scored 13 and Fred Adams 11 for Graham (2-11).

Paul Nester had 18 points for Radford (2-12) and Kris Smith added 10.
