NSU SUSPENDS ACTIVITIES OF FRATERNITIES, SORORITIES

Norfolk State University has suspended all meetings and activities of its fraternities and sororities in response to reports of alleged hazing.

James W. Satterfield, vice president for student affairs, said in a memo to the organizations: "Some of these activities have been illegal procedure and some have been strictly hazing."

Satterfield said the indefinite suspension meant organizations may not meet on or off campus and may not sponsor or participate in any activity on or off campus. He has canceled all events already scheduled and said sanctions would be imposed on organizations that violated the rules.
