TEEN-AGER RECOVERING FROM HIT-RUN INCIDENT
A teen-age girl is recovering from injuries she suffered Saturday night when a pickup truck struck her, barely missed her companion and fled from the scene.Amy Spivey, 13, had several broken bones. Her companion, Stella Porter, 13, was grazed by the vehicle.
They were walking along U.S. 21 toward Wytheville and facing traffic when the incident happened about 7:40 p.m., said Trooper L.C. Smythers. The pickup ran off the shoulder and struck Spivey. The truck was described as red with racks on the back and possible damage to its right side or front.
