`LAST PICTURE SHOW' PART OF CINEMA SERIES

"The Last Picture Show" will be Tuesday's showing at Virginia Highlands Community College's Cinema Series program at 7:30 p.m.

Released in 1971 to critical acclaim and public controversy, the movie took eight Academy Award nominations. Based on a book by Larry McMurtry, the movie was a frank bittersweet drama of social and sexual mores in a small Texas town.
