VANHOY, OSCAR F.Oscar Franklin Vanhoy, age 79, of 231 Randolph Avenue, Pulaski, Virginia, died Monday evening January 27, 1992, at the Catawba Memorial Hospital, Hickory, North Carolina. He was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on May 11, 1912, and was the son of the late William Lee Vanhoy and Mary Jane Hardin Vanhoy. Mr. Vanhoy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski, and was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army, Corp. of Engineers, in Belgium, France and Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Farmer Vanhoy. Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Vanhoy Rolland, Larinburg, N.C.; Nola Marilyn Vanhoy, Morganton, N.C.; one son, Oscar Phillip Vanhoy, Indian Mills, N.J.; four sisters, Lillie Gaylor, Clinton, Tenn.; Nellie Powers, Pulaski, Va.; Clara Herndon, Dublin, Va.; Mary Catherine Carpenter, Gates, Ore.; one brother, Edgar Vanhoy, Radford, Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski, with the Rev. Victor C. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Thursday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Westminister Presbyterian Chapel, C/O Mrs. Carlyle W. McMillan, Route 3, Box 433, Pulaski, Virginia, 24301, or to the Presbyterian Children's Home of the Highlands, P. O. Box 545, Wytheville, Virginia, 24382-9982.
