BLEVINS, HARRY I.

Harry Lee Blevins, age 76, died Wednesday, January 29, 1992, in the Riverview Nursing Home, Rich Creek, Va. following a long illness. Mr. Blevins was born in Gary, W.VA. on January 9, 1916, and was a son of the late Thomas J. & Gency Hensley Blevins. He had been a member of the Pearisburg Baptist Church since 1930. He had been a member of Angels Rest Lodge, Independent Order of Oddfellows for 53 years. In 1961 he served as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the State of Virginia. He represented the the State of Virginia three different years in the Sovran Grand Lodge of the World. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Morris Blevins, Ripplemead; three sons and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Alma Blevins, Memphis, Tenn.; Gale and Sandy Blevins, Ripplemead; G.R. and Peggy Blevins, Roanoke; one daughter and son-in-law, Robena and C.E. Hughes, Radford; two granddaughters, Pam Cady, Narrows; Lisa Shelton, Christiansburg; three grandsons, Dane Blevins, Ripplemead; Scott and Jason Hughes, Radford; two great-granddaughters, Yvonne and Nicole Shelton, Christiansburg; two sisters, Claudia Bailey, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Lola Pack, Lima, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Sylvia Blevins, Whiteford, Md. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 31, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Eddie Kendall and the Rev. Curtis Sluss officiating with burial in Birchlawn Burial Park and military honors by the American Legion Post 68 of Narrows. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
