SAYERS, CHARLES B., JR.

Charles Benton Sayers, Jr., age 70, died Tuesday, January 28, 1992, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Radford, on December 16, 1921. Mr. Sayers was in the automobile, accounting and real estate business for forty years. He served in the Army with the 42nd Rainbow Division in Europe, and was the National President from 1974-1975. He was also treasurer for more than ten years. Mr. Sayers was a charter member and 1st commander of Blacksburg V.F.W. Post 9898 and was the present commander. Surviving are his wife, Edith Price Sayers; one son, Charles Leonard Sayers, Blacksburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Brian R. White, Goochland; two grandchildren, Benton R. and Hannah T. White, Goochland; five brothers, Don Sayers, Radford; Sandy Sayers, Newburn; Garland Sayers, Draper; Phil Sayers, Salem; and John Sayers, Staunton; one sister, Evelyn Faulkner, Draper; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. Pastor Gary R. Schroeder will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 600 Prices Ford Road, N. W., Blacksburg, Va. 24060. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home.
