HALE, PHILIP L.Philip Lewis Hale, age 56, died Tuesday, January 28, 1992, at Montgomery-Regional Hospital. He was born in Blacksburg, Va., on December 7, 1935, to the late Philip Dow Hale and Ruth Wilson Hale. Mr. Hale served ten years in the United States Air Force and worked twenty-six years as Senior System Engineer with VA Tech. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Caldwell Hale; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann H. and Ricky W. Vaught, Christiansburg; three sons, Philip H. Hale, Bristol, Tenn.; J. Franklin Hale and Joseph C. Hale, both of Blacksburg; two grandchildren, Rodney Wayne Vaught and Jonathan Hale Vaught, both of Christiansburg; three sisters, Mrs. Ann H. Williams and Mrs. Phyllis H. Tate, both of Blacksburg; Mrs. Ruth H. Parker, Chesapeake; five nieces, and two nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, at the First Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Raymond Powers and the Rev. Charles S. King will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hale Family Cemetery, Pearisburg. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Philip Lewis Hale to First Wesleyan Church, 1406 Giles Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
