HULL REACHES NHL MILESTONE
Brett Hull of the St. Louis Blues became the second player in National Hockey League history to score 50 goals in 50 games more than once in a career when he connected Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Kings in Inglewood, Calif.Hull, the NHL's Most Valuable Player last season and MVP of the recent All-Star Game at Philadelphia, beat goalie Kelly Hrudey on his first shot with 1:38 left in the second period. The goal came in his 50th game of the season.
Wayne Gretzky of the Kings scored 50 goals in 50 games three times in his 13-year career, each time in an Edmonton Oilers uniform.
Hull and Gretzky are the only players to do it in consecutive seasons.
Hull became the fifth NHL player to net 50 goals in 50 games when he did it last season - the others are Gretzky, Maurice Richard, Mike Bossy and Mario Lemieux.
