TOP HIGH SCHOOL LINEMAN CHOOSES VIRGINIA
After returning from a recruiting visit to Clemson on Monday, high school All-American Frank Bjoring informed officials at Tabb High School that he probably would commit to the Tigers.On Wednesday, Bjoring announced he will sign with Virginia.
Bjoring, a 6-foot-7, 295-pounder, was rated one of the top five football prospects in Virginia by the Roanoke Times & World-News. He picked the Cavaliers over Clemson, Syracuse and Florida.
Bjoring (pronounced Bee-oring) played defensive end at Tabb but is expected to be an offensive tackle at UVa. He is the second Top 5 prospect to commit to UVa and the ninth player off the Roanoke Times & World-News Top 25.
In other recruiting:
Virginia Tech received its sixth commitment from a Top 25 prospect when wide receiver Bryan Still from Huguenot High in Richmond picked the Hokies.
The new staff at Maryland made a late push for Still, who had 30 receptions for 510 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior. -DOUG DOUGHTY
