Hollins company wins GMC franchise

Virginia Truck Center at Hollins has won the franchise to sell GMC medium trucks in a 17-county area around Roanoke. The company, owned by Frank Ellett, also sells Mack and Freightliner trucks.

The franchise, for trucks of up to 30,000 pounds gross weight, had been held by Dickerson GMC Truck Peterbilt Inc. before it closed last fall. Hart Motor Co. in Salem has the Roanoke-area GMC pickup franchise and Fulton Trucks Inc. sells GMC heavy trucks.

Ellett said he has hired parts personnel and plans to add two mechanics from the former Dickerson company. - Staff report
