Average daily TV viewing in the average U.S. TV home is an eyeball-searing 7 hours, 26 minutes a day, according to the latest numbers from Nielsen Media Research.As of November 1991, adults watched television an average of 4 hours, 40 minutes a day; teens averaged 3 hours 14 minutes a day; and children 3 hours 20 minutes a day. There was a television set in 98 percent of American homes.
Of those 92.1 million TV households, 98 percent have color television, 65 percent have two or more sets, 73 percent have a videocassette recorder, 61 percent receive basic cable, and 61 percent receive 30 or more channels.
