COURSE OFFERED IN SAFE FOOD HANDLING
A course for training and certification in safe food handling will be held at the Radford City Library, 30 First St., Feb. 19 and 26.The fee is $85 per person, which includes textbook, testing fee, certificate and breaks. The registration deadline is Feb. 5.
The 16-hour Applied Food Service Sanitation Course includes instruction on contamination and food-borne illnesses, food storage, protecting food, sanitary facilities and equipment, pest control and organizing a cleaning program.
The course was developed by the Education Foundation of the National Restaurant Association and is being taught by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service in conjunction with the state Health Department.
The Health Department gives credit for certification in its risk assessment ratings of food service establishments.
