\ FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Buchanan has scheduled a gospel song festival Feb. 9 at 3 p.m.\ ROANOKE AREA MINISTRIES board has elected Deborah Oehlschlaeger, a lawyer active in Christ Lutheran Church, as its new president.
Other new leaders of the ecumenical agency to help the needy are the Rev. James Parke of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic and the Rev. Kenneth Lane of Trinity Lutheran, vice presidents; Bess Rhodes of Melrose Christian (Disciples of Christ), secretary; and Clyde Ware of Windsor Hills United Methodist, treasurer.
The board sets policies for RAM's ministries, which are coordinated by paid staff the Rev. Julie Hollingsworth and Debbie Denison.
\ A TRADING CARD SHOW to benefit the ministry of the Rev. Richard Harris as chaplain to jails and a public nursing home is scheduled Feb. 8 in the fellowship hall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in downtown Salem. For the admission price of 50 cents, participants may buy and trade racing, baseball, football and basketball collectors' cards. The show is sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Ministers Conference, which helps support Harris' work.
\ CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOR UNION MEMBERS in the Roanoke Valley are observing the 110th anniversary of the founding of the evangelical Christian organization. A potluck dinner is scheduled Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in America on Peters Creek Road Northwest.
\ HEBREW CLASSES for adults or teens of any faith will be offered on Tuesday nights from Feb. 11 through May 26 at Beth Israel Synagogue, 920 Franklin Road S.W. Rabbi Jerome Fox will teach phonetic Hebrew reading. The only fee is for books and materials. To register, call 343-0289. Classes will meet from 6:30 to 7:30.
