MCCOY, ELIZABETH L.

Elizabeth Landes "Tot" McCoy, 87, died Tuesday evening in Asbury Center at Birdmont in Wytheville. She was born in Rockbridge County and moved with her family to the Price Fork Community, where her father served as a Lutheran minister. She was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and attended Radford College. She then taught school in McCoy and Prices Fork and later became a home-bound instructor, as well as Postmistress for the McCoy Post Office. Mrs. McCoy was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, but raised her children in the Centennial Christian Church in McCoy, where Mr. McCoy was a member. She also taught Sunday School and participated in various women's activities. She was Past Matron, Ingles Chapter #96, Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph D. "Ted" McCoy, Sr. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, R. D., Jr. and Mary McCoy, Blacksburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Joanne and Morris Witten, Bland; four grandchildren and spouses, Gary R. and Deborah McCoy, Blacksburg; Jeffrey L. McCoy, Blacksburg; Patrick D. and Makala Witten, Christiansburg, Susan J. Witten, Bland; two great-grandchildren, Zachary R. and Jennifer McCoy, Blacksburg; two sisters and brother-in-law, Clara Belle Harmon, Rebecca and J. Randolph Price, all of Prices Fork. Funeral services will be conducted at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 31. The Rev. Johnny Loughridge will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. A service will be conducted by Ingles Chapter #96 Order of Eastern Star 7:00 p.m. Thursday at McCoy Funeral Home, following the family will receive friends until 9:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Clarence Albert, Jim Billingsley, Bobby Carner, Esley Dillon, Harry Olinger, and John Scott. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Longshop-McCoy Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 489, McCoy, Va. 24111. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
