WHALEY, JOHN W.

John William Whaley, age 92, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday afternoon in a local hospital. He was the widower of Catherine L. Whaley, a member of West End Presbyterian Church, and a retired dealer of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John E. "Buddy" II and Anna Lee Whaley, Roanoke; four grandchildren, Kathy Hill, Salem; Diana Smith, John E. Whaley, III, Frankie Whaley, all of Roanoke; three great-grandchildren, Shannon Hill, Brandon Hill, Darrin Smith; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Whaley, Clearwater, Fla.; and Grace Whaley, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at Evergreen Burial Park at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Henry D. Scoggins officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to West End Presbyterian Church, (1200 Campbell Ave, S.W., Roanoke, VA 24016). Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
