FLEMING GIRLS LOSE 60-40
Pulaski County used pressure defense to build an early lead Thursday night and cruised to a 60-40 girls' basketball victory over William Fleming.The Cougars (11-2) employed a full-court trapping zone defense to seize control. Pulaski County led 37-20 at halftime.
Terri Garland led the Cougars with 20 points and Cindy Martin added 16.
William Fleming (9-5) got 17 points from Tonya Kabia and 13 from Marqueetta Randolph. \

Roanoke Valley Christian 29
ROCKY MOUNT - Roanoke Valley Christian played Franklin County even for one quarter, the first. After that it was a rout as Franklin County outscored RVC 17-2 in the second quarter and 12-3 in the third, for a non-district girls victory.
Andrea Barnhart scored 16 points to pace Franklin County (4-11).
Danae Wagner scored 11 to lead RVC (11-5). All five RVC losses have been to Roanoke Valley District schools. \

Cave Spring (13-0) got 21 points from Kim Stewart and 19 from Lisa Hodges. The pair combined for eight steals.
Patrick Henry (6-6) was led by Deidee Trigg with 11 points. \

North Cross 37
LYNCHBURG - Emily de Guzman and Sara Lexa combined to score 13 of Holy Cross' 18 fourth-quarter points to lift the Gaels to a Blue Ridge Conference victory.
North Cross suffered from a distinct disadvantage in free-throw opportunities in the game, going 3-for-9 compared to the Gaels' 14-of-23.
The Raiders (4-11 overall, 1-7 BRC) were led by Kelly Baetz with 10 points.
De Guzman led all scorers with 14 points. Lexa and Michelle Miller added 12 points apiece for the Gaels (8-6, 4-3). \
