VA. BOARD OF EDUCATION NAMES NEW PRESIDENT

Former state Sen. James P. Jones of Abingdon has been named president of the Virginia Board of Education.

Jones has been a member of the board since 1990, when he was appointed by Gov. Douglas Wilder. He was unanimously chosen by the board this week to serve as president for a two-year term.
