VISITOR CENTER TO MOVE TO LARGER SPACE IN MALL
The Highlands Gateway Visitors Center will move to a larger area of the Factory Merchants Mall in eastern Wythe County by mid-March from the quarters it has occupied since opening in August 1989.More than 24,000 visitors have passed through it since it opened. In its new 3,200-square foot quarters, it will have room for interpretive exhibits of Southwest Virginia history in addition to brochures and illustrations.
The center, which provides information about recreational and tourist attractions in Southwest Virginia, is supported by the U.S. Forest Service, Southwest Virginia's Blue Ridge Highlands Inc. and the mall.
