COURT FACILITIES TO BE MOVED FOR RENOVATIONS

Pulaski County Circuit Court facilities will be moved out of their brick courthouse near the end of the year so the building can be expanded and renovated.

The old Pulaski Theatre, in the process of being donated to the county, might be a possible location, but no decision has been made.

"Obviously, there's going to be some people who are going to be inconvenienced for a year or a year and a half," said Alan Groseclose, Courthouses Committee chairman.

Work is under way on rebuilding the century-old stone courthouse gutted by fire at the end of 1989.

"Avis Construction is moving well and, in the last week or two, we've seen a lot of steel going up," Groseclose said. The base has been installed for the building's steeple. The steeple itself is being built in Cincinnati and will be shipped to Pulaski, he said.

An ad hoc citizens committee has been established to work on exhibits of county history for both courthouse buildings.
