MAN ARRESTED IN SEX ATTACK AT GUNPOINT
A South Carolina man faces charges of abducting a Roanoke woman as she walked home from work, then raping and sodomizing her at gunpoint. The attack happened about 12:30 a.m. Jan. 24, when the 20-year-old victim was walking on Orange Avenue. She told police that she first refused when a man stopped and offered her a ride but then accepted.
The man then pulled a small silver handgun and threatened to use it, telling the woman that it was no toy as he held it to her head, police said.
He demanded her money, then stopped the car in the 1800 block of Centre Avenue Northwest and ordered her to disrobe, police said.
The woman was raped and forced to perform oral sex before she was ordered out of the car in the 3800 block of Shenandoah Avenue, police said.
Late Thursday police arrested Glen Crimley, 25, of Anderson, S.C., and charged him with rape, robbery, abduction, sodomy and use of a firearm. He also faces an unrelated charge of shooting into the Northwest Roanoke home of his former girlfriend.
