UVA TO RETIRE JERSEY OF SHAWN MOORE
Former University of Virginia quarterback Shawn Moore will have his jersey retired at the Cavaliers' annual football banquet on Feb. 9.Moore, a four-year letterman at UVa, finished fourth in the 1990 Heisman Trophy balloting, earned All-America honors and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year. Moore accumulated 7,897 yards during his career and was responsible for 83 touchdowns.
His number 12 is the sixth football number to be retired by UVa. The others are No. 24 (Frank Quayle), No. 35 (Bill Dudley), No. 48 (Joe Palumbo), No. 73 (Jim Dombrowski) and No. 97 (Gene Edmonds).
Offensive tackle Ray Roberts will receive the Jacobs Trophy as the best blocker in the ACC, and other UVa players will be honored for their play in 1991.
