BLUNDIN TOPS ACC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year Matt Blundin heads the league's all-academic team announced Friday.

Blundin, quarterback at the University of Virginia, maintained a 3.6 grade point average while attending graduate school in math education.

Two other members of the All-ACC team also made the all-academic squad: offensive guard Brian Bollinger of North Carolina and punter Ed Garno of Virginia, a three-time honoree.

Players on the all-academic team must have earned a 3.0 average for the fall semester or have a 3.0 average during his career.

Other UVa players on the all-academic squad are running back Gary Steele, center Tim Samec and defensive back Tyrone Lewis. - Staff report
