BARBER'S ACTIONS HURT CITIZENS AND HIMSELF
As a citizen of Montgomery County I would like to express my feelings on the actions of ex-Sheriff Louis Barber. After hearing so many good things about him and the good job he has done for us, I was very appalled at his actions after he lost the election to Ken Phipps.
It is unbelieveable that Louis Barber would order his deputies to stop helping state police with accidents. I know it must have been a shock for Mr. Barber to learn that some of the troopers had supported Phipps, but it was not necessary to put our county in danger for it. If he had a problem with the men, he should have taken it up with them and not the county.
Luckily, things like this do not happen when people like him are in office. It would be pretty good if other counties stopped helping us and the state police on accidents that are out of our reach, now wouldn't it? There are other things that Mr. Barber did but I will not touch on them. I just think that after being with our county for 14 years he should have just held his breath and been gracious to us, instead of hurting us as well as himself while trying to get back at his competition.\ Chadwick Cox\ Blacksburg
