WEIKEL-MARTIN
Elizabeth Alexander Martin and Lawrence Patrick Weikel were married January
11 in St. Marks Episcopal Church. Rev. Robert Sydney Goldsmith performed the
ceremony. The reception was held in the Hollins College Green drawing room.
The bride was given away by her brother, Milton Thomas Martin, Jr. The matron
of honor was Merian Litchford, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Julie
Johnson and Michelle Foss, sisters of the groom, and Lisa Blessard, the
bride's best friend. The best man was Larry Fred Weikel, father of the groom.
Ushers were Carl Kiser and Kenny Stuart, friends of the groom, and Berk
Robertson, cousin of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Ms. Joan Counts.
The bride's gown was of candlelight cotton brocade. She carried a bouquet of
silk roses. The bride is a daughter of Sallie Murchison Martin, of Fincastle,
and the late Milton Thomas Martin, Sr. She is a graduate of Lord Botetourt
High School and Radford University and College of Health Sciences. She is
employed by Roanoke Memorial Hospitals. The groom is a son of Nora Gillespie
Weikel, of Roanoke, and Larry Fred Weikel, of West Palm Beach, Fla. He
graduated from Northside High School and the College of Health Sciences. He is
employed by Roanoke City Emergency Medical Services. The newlyweds will live
in Southwest Roanoke.
