PAGE, LLOYD T., JR.

Lloyd Thomas Page Jr., lifelong resident of Buena Vista, Virginia, deie on January 31, 1992, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Page, son of the late Lloyd T. Page Sr. and Caroline R. Page, was born in Buena Vista January 16, 1921. He is survived by his widow, June Fix Page; one daughter, Mrs. James (Cynthia) White; one son, Lloyd T. Page III; two granddaughters, Kelly Jo Page and Ashley Jones; two grandsons, Jamie and Paul White. Mr. Page was a lifelong member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, and in recent years was teacher of the Page Bible Class, named for his grandfather. At the time of his death, he was a trustee of his church and served on numerous boards and commissions. He was owner and publisher of the Buena Vista News, retiring in 1978. He was a past president of the Virginia Press Association. He was a member of the Buena Vista Rotary Club and numerous civic clubs and organizations. Mr. Page had a deep interest in the integrity of reporting the news. He was the recipient of the Copeland Award given annually by the Virginia Press Association for Outstanding Community Service. After his retirement from the News in 1978, he became associated with Century 21, Ramsey Real Estate. He was long active in the Virginia State Democratic Party. He was a Past Master of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge No. 186. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Johns United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends were received from 7:00 to 8:00 on Saturday night at Lomax Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church.
