LEONARD, GEORGE W.

Mr. George W. "Pete" Leonard, age 71, died Saturday morning (February 1, 1992) in the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va. He was retired from Newport News Ship Building & Dry Dock Company, and was a member of Saltville/Rich Valley Lions Club, Moose Lodge #1004 Marion, The Progressive Club and The Exchange Club of Newport News. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Samye Frye Leonard, Saltville, Va.; one son, George W. "Bud" Leonard, Jr. Burke, Va.; one daughter, Joyce Bravo, Bethesda, Md.; one brother, Jack Leonard, Glade Spring, Va.; one half sister, Anne Surber, Abingdon, Va.; five grandsons. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Tate Chapel United Methodist Church in Chilhowie, Va. with the Rev. David St. Clair officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tates Chapel United Methodist Church.
