STONE, HELEN P.

Helen Poole Stone (Mrs. Raymond V.), age 71, died Saturday, February 1, 1992, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C. Born August 10, 1920, in Independence, Va., she was the daughter of D. Price and Mayme Todd Poole. She was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, Lebanon United Methodist Women, Grayson County Chapter of the D.A.R., and the Elk Creek Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Stone was a retired school teacher, having taught over 40 years in the Grayson County School System. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Aileen Wright and Mrs. Frances Osborne, both of Independence; Mrs. Anne Spates, Rockville, Md.; two brothers, Harold Poole and Ralph Poole, both of Galax; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 3, 1992, at 11:00 a.m. in Lebanon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rick Eminhizer officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, and will be taken to the church thirty minutes preceding the funeral service to lie in state. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday night from 7:00 until 9:00. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Elk Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. or to the Independence Rescue Squad. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home of Independence, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
