DEPLETED BOTETOURT SQUAD DROPS DEMONS

Lord Botetourt, missing leading scorer Bobby Prince, came out hot and rolled past Christiansburg 66-53 in non-district boys' basketball Saturday.

Craig Layman led the way with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Andrew Pauley, making his second career start, added 16 points, and Derek Loyd and Mike Bramblett added had 10 each.

Steve Gregory had 15 points for the Blue Demons (5-10), and Eddie Bentley and Mike Smith added 14 each.

Prince injured a knee in a game Friday night and remains in a hospital. Lord Botetourt (9-5) already has lost Cline Dooley. Jeff Cronise, who had been out with an injury, came back Saturday to play a few minutes and score four points. Staff report
