HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS OFFERED FREE CAMP
High school students ages 15-18 are being offered a chance to apply for a free two-week Natural Resources Career Camp June 14-27 in the George Washington National Forest near Staunton."The Natural Resources Camp will be staffed by a wide range of professionals from fields such as forestry, wildlife and fisheries management, wilderness, resource interpretation, and a host of other specialties," said Robert McKinney, interpretive specialist with the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area.
McKinney said the camp would be a good opportunity for students who are considering a career in natural resources to see how the Forest Service works.
McKinney said free transportation is provided to and from the hometown of campers chosen to participate. Additional information and applications are available from Mount Rogers NRA Headquarters, Route 1, Box 303, Marion, Va. 24354 (telephone 783-5196).
