WILLIS MAN CHARGED WITH FIRST-DEGREE MURDER

The Floyd County Sheriff's Office has charged an 18-year-old Willis man with first-degree murder in the death of William Daniel Burnett, 19, also of Willis.

Jimmy Dean Stepp was charged Monday after investigation of Burnett's death early Sunday morning, Sheriff Russell Quesenberry said.

The sheriff said Burnett died apparently as a result of a fight. No weapons were involved. Stepp had been at a party at Burnett's rented trailer, Quesenberry said.

The sheriff said the investigation is continuing.
