PROFESSOR, STUDENTS OFFER HELP WITH TAXES
An Emory & Henry College professor and some of her students are available to help area residents prepare 1991 federal tax returns without charge.Louise Beck, a certified public accountant who teaches in the college's Economics and Business Department, said the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program will operate on campus until the April 15 tax deadline.
VITA was started by the Internal Revenue Service several years ago. Beck has worked with it and this year has nine students assisting her.
The volunteers will be in Miller-Fulton Hall on campus Mondays, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; Wednesdays, 2:30-4 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays, 1-3 p.m., except for the week of March 16 when students are on spring break. Appointments can be made by calling 944-4121. - Southwest bureau
