WLAF HOLDS DRAFT

Former Virginia cornerback Jason Wallace and former VMI wide receiver Mark Stock were selected in the third round of the World League of American Football draft in Dallas. Wallace was taken by Ohio with the 23rd selection, and Sacramento took Stock 24th.

Other state players drafted: defensive end Steve Bates, James Madison, sixth round by Orlando; linebacker Shawn Woodson, James Madison, 14th round by New York-New Jersey; and receiver Marvin Hargrove, Richmond, 14th round by London.

Babe Laufenberg, one of the NFL's more traveled quarterbacks the past eight years, was the second overall pick. The first pick was George Bethune, an outside linebacker who spent 1989 and 1990 with the Los Angeles Rams and was taken by the Sacramento Surge.
