APCO IS TRYING TO IGNORE RIGHTS OF LANDOWNERS

IN REPLY to William M. Guthrie (letter, Jan. 17):

I know firsthand what it is to live without electricity. The first 20 years of my life were spent without electricity because the power company abused my father's right as a landowner when they located their lines.

This is the same thing Appalachian Power Co. is now trying to do: ignore the landowners' rights and run this monstrous line where they wish. The only ones who stand to benefit from it are stockholders and customers far from here.

The only fair solution is to generate the electricity where the market is for it. Of course, this does not suit Apco, because that is out of their range of operations and would do nothing for them financially.

I am glad some people are awakening and protesting the rape and destruction of our country by those who are interested only in their own financial gain. Our God did a wondrous job creating this Earth. It is time for men to stop pillaging and despoiling it. Time to try to preserve it for future generations.

Since the line is not proposed to run through Dublin, and since by Mr. Guthrie's own admission it does not concern him, I feel it would be prudent of him to butt out and let the people of the localities involved decide if they want it. JOHN A. DAMERON SWEET SPRINGS, W.VA.
