Mrs. Carrie Lee Anderson Charlton, age 92, died Tuesday night February 4, 1992 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek, Va. Mrs. Charlton was born on October 17, 1899 in Bluff City, Va. and was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Betty Lee Hess Anderson. Mrs. Charlton was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Charlton; two sons, Tom Charlton and Buddy Charlton, who was killed in Iwa Jima in World War II and a sister, Dorothy Reid, of Norfolk, Va., who passed away Monday, February 3, 1992. Mrs. Charlton was a member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church, member of the Pearis Chapter #124 O.E.S., member of the Rebecca Lodge #72 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Elswick, of Rich Creek, Va.; Mrs. Faye Journell, of Englewood, Tenn.; two sisters-in-laws, Lillian R. Anderson, Gloria C. Anderson, both of Pearisburg, Va.; two nephews, Jack Anderson, of Pearisburg, Va.; Joe Elswick, of Bedford, Ore.; one neice, Jeanne Nicholson, of Englewood, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 7, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg, Va. with Rev. Warren Stewart officiating with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Va. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
