UVA'S WELSH TO GET DODD COACHING AWARD
University of Virginia football coach George Welsh will receive the 1991 Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award on Feb. 25.The award is presented annually to honor the coach who represents "a higher and more noble aspect of college coaching."
A selection committee of former coaches chooses the recipient of the award, presented by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award Foundation Inc., in honor of the most successful football coach in Georgia Tech history.
Welsh led the Cavaliers to their fifth consecutive winning season in 1991 and their third consecutive bowl game. Virginia finished 8-3-1 after a loss to Oklahoma in the Gator Bowl.
