RETIN-A WILL FADE LIVER SPOTS, STUDY FINDS
Retin-A, the prescription wrinkle cream, will also make liver spots fade or disappear, a study concludes.Doctors who tested the cream found it cleared up the age spots, or at least lightened them, in more than 80 percent of users.
They concluded that Retin-A, along with using sunscreen and staying out of the sun, "is an effective, non-destructive approach to improving and sometimes clearing" the spots.
Retin-A created a sensation four years ago when University of Michigan researchers announced it would smooth out wrinkles. In a report in today's New England Journal of Medicine, the same group described the effect on liver spots. Their study was partially funded by the maker of Retin-A. - Associated Press
