Waste Management Inc., an Oak Brook, Ill. waste hauler and recycler with operations in Roanoke, said Wednesday it has registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer from time to time up to $1 billion of unsecured debt securities.

Home Style Day Care Center has opened at 1299 Colorado St. in Salem.

The 6,700-square-foot center, across from the Graham-White Manufacturing Co., will house up to 130 children aged 2 1/2 to 12.

The $500,000 facility is owned and operated by Tony and Susan Williams.
