GAY ODU STUDENTS SEEK MORE SUPPORT

Homosexual students at Old Dominion University say a letter from the university president condemning gay-bashing doesn't mean much unless the university backs its words with action.

ODU President James V. Koch issued the letter after an increase of anti-gay graffiti and posters appeared on campus.

`Stephanie Fetter, secretary of ODU's Gay and Lesbian Student Union, said she and other homosexual students and employees will meet administrators today to ask that the school ban ROTC recruiting because the military prohibits homosexuals, and request that ODU offer benefits to roommates of homosexual employees.

Koch said Tuesday that the military would probably soon lift its ban against homosexuals. He said the state allows benefits only for married people. - Associated Press
