BYRD MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLERS WIN TITLE

Coach Al Minter's William Byrd Middle School took five of 15 weight classes to easily win the first Roanoke Valley Middle School Wrestling Invitational recently at Northside High School.

The winning Byrd team scored 213 points while Northside Junior, coached by David Schuyler, was second with 176, despite having only one winner.

Franklin County, coached by Jim Worley, scored 173, followed by William Ruffner, coached by Craig McClellan, 120, and Botetourt Intermediate, coached by Rod Corl, 108.
