ELKS CLUB HOOP SHOOT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Former winners Sarah Wonson and Brian McFarland were among the six winners in the recent Elks Club Hoop Shoot at Madison Middle School.

Wonson won the girls' 10-11 age division by hitting 12 of 25 free throws. She was the winner two years running in the 8-9 age division.

McFarland hit 19 shots to win the boys' 12-13 age division. He won the title two years ago in the 10-11 age group.

Other girls who won titles are Joanna Colosimo and Ashley Supan.

The other boys who won are P.J. Coleman and Michael Yates. Yates made the best showing of the day by hitting 22 shots.

The winners will advance to the district event Feb. 8, also at Madison, against champions from Danville, Martinsville, Lynchburg, Clifton Forge, Galax and Pulaski.
